It is a number that shows the total canisters we have saved from entering the local landfill since our first order in early 2025. The number updates in real-time and you can even watch it increment after you place an order with us:

So what does this mean exactly? Well, the majority of the 3 million people who visit Alaska get here by plane or boat. Since you can’t take bear spray with you when you leave (or bring it with you when you arrive) as the canisters are not allowed on planes or boats. Prior to having an easy and cost effective way to rent bear spray, most people would purchase it and end up throwing it away as they are leaving. These would eventually end up in our local landfills. Not only is this completely unnecessary but it is also expensive buying bear spray to only throw it away after you are done needing it. There needed to be a better way and now, fortunately, there is a better way…
